60' 389 Trophy Engine value
Got a call from a guy that has a complete assembled 60' 389 tri-power engine for sale. It has a M4 code which when I looked it up shows as a 348 HP Trophy engine with 4 bolt mains. It was installed in, of all things, a 55 T-bird when he got it and he wants to sell it. The engine turns over fine on the engine stand. It also comes with all the T-10 4 speed stuff that was in the car with it. Any ideas on the value?

I have the M4 60 Pontiac engine complete with tripower and 4speed. This originally is out of a 1960 Ventura and put in the 1955 T bird. This is the 348 hp steel crank 4 bolt main complete. I have everything from the fan blade to the end of the t10 tranny. It is for sale for $3500. All numbers are correct down to the 3– carbs. This was never separated. All build numbers date from aug to nov 1959. My understanding is there were only 722 built.

Interesting, a 1960 389 Trophy V-8??
1960 is the last year the Pontiac V-8 was called the Tempest V-8. When the Tempest came out in 1961 Pontiac started calling the 389 the Trophy V-8. |
