I'm moving over from the Can Am forum and joining you guys. Just sold a Can Am and today traded my 02 Firebird for a 04 Impulse Blue GTO. The car has 17 K on it and I got a reasonable deal. My only concerns are that it's got new tires on it and some kind of cat back exhuast with a fart pipe on it that leads me to believe that it has not lived a pampered life. I'm not too worried about getting driveline parts for it because they were manufactured here but wonder about electronics and body parts that would have to be sourced from OZ.
One irony of the deal is I bought it to go to the POCI convention in Spearfish, S.D. in July. Looking at the titile info I found that the car was sold new in Sturgis, forty miles from there.
Wish me luck with my NEW GTO.

Welcome and good luck for sure. Assuming you are aware of ls1gto.com, yes?

I've checked it out afew times. There seems to be more action over there. Things may pick up on this site as the new GTO's are a good value compared to forty year old ones. At least you don't have worry about rust.

The old timers here hate on the new GTO's so bad it chased everybody away, I might visit once a week if that anymore.
Gets old hearing: "Your cars a piece of crap, not even good enough to be called a GTO" from someone who has never even been in one.

The only reason I'm here now is LS1.com is down right now.

It's a shame.

Hey Tcars! I just realized that you made it over to this forum. I hardly ever check this forum anymore for the EXACT reasons that 87 just mentioned.

Let them eat cake. I've owned seven older goats from tripower four speeds, a 428 four speed and even a two speed automatic. They were great cars in there day and were all about sound and fury.
But forty years of technology has to be worth something. My 04 will will out perform them in every catagory except in the looks department which is purely subjective anyway. Plus you can drive it every day and get over 20mph. Try that with a 400 point show car. I guess in a perfect world you could have an 04-06 goat for a daily driver and your favorite old goat for a show car.

There is a guy on the GTO FORUM selling his very low mileage 06 for 26K. It's been babied and has like 1500 miles on it. If you are looking for a car that has been garage kept and extremely well taken care of this is one to consider.

It's Torrid red with some mods. His name on the gto forum is NJgoat. He's from NJ.
