Default Overheating problem diagnosed partly

Have been chasing an overheating problem in the Bird for several months now. Did a compression test this morning and found #4 at 120 and several drops of water at the spark plug hole. Added 2 quarts of water to the radiator and it migrated into #4 cylinder pretty quickly. Hoping just a head gasket issue but will tear everything down anyway for a refresh; its been 12 years since this engine has been apart and so this is a good time to get er done.

Do you recall what you used for a head gasket last time?
Be prepared to get the the heads milled to the tune of .003” so you can have a mirror finish.
This will provide the ultimate long term sealing.

Also if this would be the 3rd or worse yet 4th time the head bolts would get reused, then it’s time for a new set!

Felpro 1016s and not sure about the ARP headbolts. Probably the 3rd time if I reuse them.

If there ARP your good. It’s the factory ones I would change out if they where to go back in for the 4th time.
Just make double sure that before you plop the heads on that every head bolt threads in with finger ease , if not get a thread Chaser tap and clean out any crap.

Use your shop vac to suck any crap out of them.
