We didn't have the bad weather the other night, just some rain. Sorry to hear of the damage done in some areas of our state. I will try to keep you all posted from time to time. He sure does enjoy his "ponyak" friends. Thanks - TJ
Hey, it's me, TJ, again. First of all, thank you all SO much for your prayers and thoughts for the ol' Ponyakr. Here's the short version of what has happened. He was totally septic when went into the hospital. He had surgery for a perforated ulcer, was in ICU for 9 days, then transferred to a specialty hospital for further treatment and rehab. He is currently on a ventilator since surgery on May 1st and kept mostly sedated while his body heals. When they reduce the sedation for a "sedation vacation" he opens his eyes, squeezed my hand and wiggles his feet. Don't know how long he will have to be there, but they are working on him, *and God is working on MY patience - LOL) trying to get him to the point they can wean him off the vent. His care team is wonderful, but most of all his Father God is on the case and that is where we stand. By Jesus' stripes he was healed and nothing is too hard for God. Thanks for standing with us, God bless you all.

That’s great to hear he’s doing a little better, that’s a very dangerous situation. The best thing a person can have is someone looking over them in the hospital . Lots of mistakes happen so keep watch over him, prescriptions etc.
Was thinking about him
The other day wondering how he was doing since I posted a thread he’d have really enjoyed. Hope he gets better .
Don’t let your guard down though when in the home stretch hospitals make mistakes and a patient having an advocate with a watchful eye is very important. Good luck and let him know we are all pulling for him
And hoping for his recovery.. just keep saying “ stock and super stock Pontiacs” around him that’ll get his strength up.

18 days sedated. That sounds like quite an ordeal.
Praying for the best!

Hello all,

Just a quick update. Don (Ponyakr) is off the ventilator now, Praise the Lord!, breathing on his own with a mask set at 50% oxygen. All vitals are pretty stable. Not very communicative at the moment, which is REALLY strange for him - LOL I think he's just tired. I know he would sure appreciate the kind words and prayers that have been said on his behalf - and I do too. Will keep you guys posted. Love and hugs from TJ

Happy to hear he’s off the ventilator and breathing on his own, that’s good news.

Hello all. I'm sorry I don't have better news to share with this update. But, All is Well With My Soul!

Don Hurst March 22, 1949 - June 5, 2022

Well, although my tears don’t want to quit flowing, my heart and spirit are shouting Hallelujah right now. My partner, my best friend of 43 years (54, if you count the 11 years we dated before marriage) has been promoted to his heavenly rewards. He slipped away about 4 or 5 minutes to noon today - Pentecost Sunday - how fitting!

He fought a good fight, he has finished his race and he kept the faith. (2 Tim. 4:7-8)

I know his greatest wish would be that everyone would make SURE they have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, so he can see you again one day.

There will be no funeral or memorial service. We both agreed long ago to be cremated and our ashes sprinkled in a special place on our property. So that’s what I’ll do. Thank you for all your prayers and support throughout this ordeal.

Nothing left to do but shout “Amen!” Somebody!!

This was his favorite song, by a favorite group, The Hoppers…
