I think you are right too that the Y-99 was available on the D27 & D37 but not on the D67 models - mine has the Y-96 setup on it so would have come with the 14" honeys.

Steve - My buddy Brian introduced us - the owner had some NOS honeycomb centers on E-Bay and he e-mailed him about some other parts, spoke to him on the phone and discovered he had this car and was thinking of selling it because he never drove it. I had one conversation with the guy and the deal was done - a week later Brian was in the area on business and went over and did a full inspection for me to confirm it was numbers matching & in good condition - even gave the guy a deposit for me! He went above & beyond without question!

You can be sure there will be pictures & a video or two of her doing a little stretching.
That was mighty, MIGHTY nice of Brian to do all that leg work for you, Chris. I'm def going to keep that in mind if'n he ever needs anything from me. Helluva nice guy!

Dang Chris - I didn't check the board on Friday and then went to the hunting property all weekend to put in food plots and completely missed this news! It is official - I am extremely jealous right now...in fact I'm feeling rather Blue about the whole thing...almost Lucy Blue...

Congrats on a very nice addition and please...keep BVZ away from the bumper and tail pipes of this car.

Drew, Chris and all:

Going over some production numbers and order forms for the 1972 LeMans, trying to put the Y99 handling package and G60 tire questions more into perspective.

Production numbers:

G60 tires were installed on a total of 1,708 '72 LeMans. I assume that this number would include WW5, WW4, Y99 and those cars with just the G60 tire option. From what I see on the order form, one could NOT order the G60 tires as a separate item EXCEPT on a GTO optioned car.

The Y99 Handling Package was installed on a total of 1194 '72 LeMans. I assume that this number would include the WW5 and WW4 optioned cars.

The WW4 option package was installed on a total of 125 '72 LeMans. The WW4 package could be ordered on any '72 LeMans coupe or hardtop. No 'verts.

The WW5 option package was installed on a total of 290 '72 LeMans. The WW5 package could only be ordered along with the W62 GTO option.

So . . . it would appear that 514 '72 GTOs were equipped with G60 tires but NOT WW5 or Y99 equipped.

Does this make any sense? My head hurts . . .

Gotta quit 'jacking other folks threads, but here's an example of a '72 GTO which was ordered with G60 tires, but without the Y99 or WW5 options.

Thanks BJ - I was wondering where you were!

Lloyd - thanks for all the stats - great info. For right now, I think the 15" honeys will stay on the car with street tires & the NOS 14" honeys will get Wide Ovals mounted to them that I can use on the 72 & in the future on the 71.

Here one that is local, loaded with options and a auto trans.

He is convinced it was a "GTO" because it had strobe stripes when delivered not on repaint as shown. Still a beauty!

The owner is the guy smiling in the background. He is a great guy and drives it all around with a few shows in between.

He has some nice documentation and I also talked with the guy who sold the car new in IL.

They have some great stories about how it was ordered and delivered and still is running great today.

Default Y-99 and 15" wheels on 1972 converts

Unfortunately, Niether the Y-99 package nor the 15" wheels were available on the "A" body Convertibles in 1972. I am not sure why, but all of the factory literature that I have researched over the years reflects that. My convert does have the Y-99 big fat
(1 1/8" diameter) beauty of a rear sway bar on it and it appears to be original. I can only assume that this was dealer installed though since all info seems to reflect that it was unavailable on converts. I can assure you that I will be leaving that in place as well as the 15" KR's. It makes those 72's POP!

Oh, by the way Gary, I will give her a bath when I'm done pal. No reason to have to deal with any slop.

Correct, Jeff. No G60s nor Y99 available on the 'verts.

Your Y99 rear bar has been there for quite a while, as it's been disco'd by GM for at least 20 years IIRC.

If that were MY car, no way the Y99 bar or the KRs would be going anywhere either, LOL!

So far 3 of the 26 HO convertibles are Lucy Blue? How many others are out there?

Great shots Mike, thanks for posting them!

And of those three, two are on Dan Jensen's list.

The one that Mike posted pics of in post #87 appears to be the first 'vert that Dan has listed. Colors and options appear to be correct, anyway.

Your new girlfriend is NOT in Dan's list, BTW.

It is now - I sent him the PHS last week.

Unfortunately, with everything he had going on running Stanton, I haven't heard back from him yet.

How many are on the list Lloyd?

I saw that also at a few shows and told him no GTO converts in 72 and he just kept arguing with me, I walked away, but it is a gorgeous car.
