'71 Exhaust Flange Gasket
I have a '71 455 in a Station Wagon. Stock exhaust manifolds.
Do these require a gasket? If so, what would you call this part to make my searches turn up more hits? I've always just called them donut gaskets or exhaust flange gaskets. |

They don't have donut gaskets where exhaust pipe meets manifold.

When I got introduced to Pontiac restoration a couple years ago, I was astonished to see the exhaust pipe to manifold had no donut gasket also. It seals metal to metal.

Yup, it's a compression style fitting so no need for a gasket. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Thanks guys. Ben, I had posted this question, and then was on the wagon forum to message you a question so thought I'd ask you there also.
As most things do, this has snowballed into a larger project than I'd hoped. |
