Our on track experience:

3 Stock block Pontiac 455's 1971-1973 vintage
5 billet straight caps. 1.5-2 seasons for each block @ 1100-1300 HP All three blocks broke in the same place up through the #2 main bearing oil feed from the cam bore to the main housing bore.
Indian Adventure Iron: Unlimited runs @ 1300-1500 HP (hundreds of passes and bad tune-ups) No block issues
IAII Iron block: Probably close to 3000 HP Multiple years of running on 90% nitro. Some pretty bad tune-ups, melting pistons through the wrist pins, turning Crower billet crankshafts to liquid, entire car burned to the ground. No Block Failures
IA II solid aluminum block: 3 seasons at 3000 HP 5-6 runs at 3200-3400 HP. 40+ lbs. Boost, 90% nitro, 9000 RPM's. No crank support or harmonic balancer. No block failures. In fact the block will not require line honing this off season. Better tune-ups take massive load off the block. IA II blocks are tough in iron or aluminum

He used a factory block because he HAD to, I’m pretty sure a lot of time and money went into his block. No one likes to play Russian Roulette! LOL!

Sorry, I have to respond on this one.
Dick Duclow's IA-1 block was out there at the time.
Rodney Butler chose to run one of those blocks as a 440 cid engine and did for years.
Marty could have bought a Duclow Block if he wanted to.
He chose to use the 1967 400 Block that came from Bill Klausing and put splayed caps on the block. It lasted 3 years and also eventually cracked in the same location as the blocks mentioned by Mike Garblik.

So what was posted was not true and the truth needed to be told..
I will only post here if the post is a bold faced lie.

Tom V.

Anyone know what year the IA block came out? I bought one, I’m trying to remember what year it was that I got it........2004 or 5. Jeff had one in his shop but at that time they were almost impossible to find at that time.

Post by Scott Misue in 1999
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...12#post1712412

"Gach is not an easy man to impress. However, Marty's accomplishments with turbos has definitely caught his attention. Lou seems to be a bit miffed by the fact that Marty wasn't given, sold, or stolen, a block to test. I think Lou's ire may also stem from the fact that Marty isn't a vendor of this block and, as such, wouldn't conceal his combo, reults, or the components employed in its testing."

So Scott Misus way back in 1999 was complaining about Marty P not having access to an Indian Adventures block, not that he could not afford to buy one.

Tom V.

So the reply by George was BS.
