Default 1940 Chevy 455 Pontiac

This is a '40 Chevy of mine that a Pontiac engine was transplanted into. The engine crossmember and engine mounts from a 1973 Grand Prix were used on the '40 frame. They fit nicely and positioned the engine in a great location. Plenty of room for steering and plenty of room to work on the engine. The engine is a 1973 455 with 1970 #64 heads, ram air 4 cam, '65 tripower, long branch manifolds and super t10 4 speed. The rear end is currently from a 70's Camaro. However, I have a 3:42 Pontiac 9.3 positrac that I'm thinking on putting in the car. Thought I'd share the build in case anyone out there is wanting to put a Pontiac in an old hot rod.

Default The Blob

Yeah, I seem to remember a Pontiac powered ride, similar to that one. This was one of the 1st Pontiac powered cars I ever rode in. It had a 389 with an old "Hydro" trans. We named it "The Blob" after a ridiculous spook movie, by the same name, about a big blob of jello or liver lookin stuff that ate people.

The car belonged to one of my schoolmates, who we nicknamed "Howard", after some geeky TV character at the time. Some of us guys would load up in The Blob and cruise the streets of our local town, on Sat nights. Howard's older brother also had a 4-speed '65 GTO. So, Howard borrowed the GTO one time and took us guys for a "spin". Yeah, it was great, and I was hooked. Had to have my own 4-speed Goat.

The Blob never got a 455, but Howard's current ride did.
