With the increased value of the Trans Am's/Formula's etc and desire for correctness, PY offers the following info and kits. For those not concerned with correctness or concourse judging, we offer the regular kits listed in our catalog.

The purpose of this thread is to both educate the owners on correct locks sets and to offer the members here correct lock sets that are different then the catalog listings. This will also save on dealing with a locksmith when purchasing individual components. We will keep this thread as a sticky and I will try to answer questions as time allows. The current lock sets offered by PY (and others) are replacements and a true NOS lock set has particular differences I will discuss. PY will offer correct kits, in different forms, to our members as inventory allows. We have a very limited supply of certain components, so kits will be on a limited supply basis.


PY106B70C - 70/74/78 - concourse style Ignition and door lock kit. Comes with reproduction Ignition lock but has 2 NOS "J" key blanks with knock outs. sleeve has buzzer. The door locks are reproduction, but have correct "notches" on the shutters for correct appearance - most all other kits are do not have this feature.

Note on 73 cars - I recently had a customer get some original keys and his car had 72 locks/keys - so I assume early 73 cars may have 72 locks - all the locks themselves are the same/interchangeable

Didn't the oval key to unlock the doors/trunklid/glovebox start in 1975? Prior to that, the square key would operate the ignition and door lock cylinders only.
