Default 65 Back up lamp removal

I am removing the rear bumper. Can the back up lamp assemblies be removed with the bumper on ? How do the back up lamp assemblies come apart ?
Thanks.

Thumbs up YES

If your '65 is untouched there are splash shields covering the light assemblies.
These are bolted to the bumper brackets.
Remove these to access the two nuts holding the light housing to the bumper via the bracket.

It's a lot easier to remove the full bumper with brackets attached from the car.
Unplug the lights and remove the complete bumper then remove the lights with the bumper on the bench.

As Jeff mentions, you must unplug the lights from the rear harnss in the trunk, and push the wire and rubber seal through the hole in the trunk floor. The same needs to be done for the license plate light. Then, you just need to undo the 4 bolts holding the bumper brackets to the frame. If you undo the rear most first, the bumper can swing down and be supported while you undo the front 2.

Being an old guy, I did not want to remove the bumper and have to re align. I removed the two bolts easiest to access and GENTLY pulled the splash shield out just far enough to get my hand to the mounting nuts. Really nothing to it. Goes back together easy. That is my way.
