Default Head/ intermediate pipe

Hi guys,
Does anyone know where I can get the head pipes for a 65 gto? I need the Pipes from engine to muffler. 2 1/2"
I don't want the X or H type, just 2 separate.
I have the muffler back pieces already.
Thanks, Jeff

OC,
I checked them all...either you have to buy the full exhaust or an X or H pipe. Nothing OEM.
Looking for something I can get local....can't see spending extra $$$ shipping for two pieces of pipe
I have the Pypes head pipes already (Ram air manifolds) and muffler back already.
I have straight pipe now that I want to replace.

Jeff, I bought 2.5" headpipes a few years back from RARE(turndown at manifold and about 36" of straight pipes, no x). I remember seeing headpipes only listed at Ames, too. Call them

OC,
Yes thanks for the update. After I posted I remembered the spring English town swap is coming up in april, and IIRC Ames and Pypes both have booth there. I'll call and have them bring them.
I would think Pypes would have what I need, just don't show it . I'll call them
Thanks again. Jeff

I don't have that catalog handy right now...I have an older G32 in front of me. N179T looks like the part number I need.
Funny, none of this comes up on the online catalog.
Thanks all.
Jeff

Just double checked that. Those are 2 1/4 pipe.
Drop shipped from Mfr, so have to pay shipping.
I want 2 1/2. I'll call Pypes Monday.

Thanks again, jeff

I went through this a little while ago. The only available option was the “down pipes”, which were just the ones that come straight off the manifold and straight under the car. Not one manufacturer responded to my request for just the pipes that go from the cast iron exhaust manifold to the muffler. They only sell the whole kit. It brings up a good question: what if you damage one pipe somehow, whether when installing or possible road damage. Do you have to buy a whole new system when that happens? It appears so.

Jeff...are you looking for original bends or just some pipes to connect to your mufflers? Is there an exhaust place around where you live that could make the pieces you need?

66,
yes, thats where my problem is. I see Pypes sells a kit (SGA30) that has the pipes i need, but I dont need the whole kit. I'm going to call them and see if I can get just the pipes . I can't see why they won't sell then seperately. Maybe a set of mufflers also.
GTO,
Yes I have a place locally the does excellent exhaust work, problem is they are booked for the next month.
I'm in the process of doing an EFI system and just want to seal up the exhaust.
FYI... i have 2 straight pieces now going from the downpipes to the mufflers. it works but i want to tuck the exhaust up closer to the body.

Excellent Jeff
I was going to tell you Pypes does sell just mandrel bent down pipes in 2 1/2" and they extend back under the car about 3 feet.
I've bought 2 sets from them not that long ago.
All you have to do is graft in a couple short pieces to get to your mufflers.

Muffler shops can bend what you need. The system I have now was custom bent (mandrel, no crimps) from collectors to rear bumper and fit better than the pre-made system that was on it. They charged me $700 installed with A/P Accelerator mufflers and transferred my splitters to the new tail pipes. They just quoted me $160 for new custom bent 2-1/2" pipes installed from the header flanges to the (new) mufflers.

Update..
Pypes sells them.
They call them downpipe extensions. They do not stock them, because they are part of there kit, but if you call, they will make you a set when they do a kit batch.
I had them in about 2 weeks
Call or Email them.
Thanks Jeff
