Default New cover for rear

I'm putting in new gears and an Eaton posi unit in my 68 Firebird. Is it worth getting a new cover with a girdle for cruising, street use and possible occasional run down the track?

What rear-end are you using? From what I understand, The T/A covers preload the bearing caps. I would guess anything that is adding safety is a good idea. I run the T/A covers on both cars.

If you have a rear sway bar clearance might be an issue at full drop suspension since they stick out a little further.

No sway bar, just new Eaton rear leaf springs and Bilstein shocks.

I have one on the 12 bolt in the Camaro/IA and the factory sway bar looked real close so I swapped on a FBody ProTouring one that has longer "legs".

FWIW my 78 has a stock 8.5 stock cover 28 splines and has done as fast as 1.51 60 fts and stock rear cover.

Been a minute since I shopped for one but I think T/A performance specifically makes a low profile cover to clear sway bars and such. Which logic dictates that their normal model wont clear all options. So if its a concern look for the lower profile model.
