1966 GTO Trunk Light Question
I got the trunk light for my 66 from a member here along with the roof rail lights. I have the trunk light wire ran through the trunk lid and installed correctly, but how does it get activated when the trunk is opened? I have searched images online and only see the part I have installed with the wiring and light going through the trunk lid. I don't see where a push pin installs in my trunk or in the harness or have necessary hardware. I have the 66 shop manual and can't seem to locate it in there either.
As always, I appreciate the help here! I'm getting so close to finishing this 66, and all these small details are really a pain. My 66 was completely stripped of all her options when I got her, so I didn't have any of these parts to log. I still need to find a parking brake light, hood light, glove box light, ash tray light, and door edge guards. The wiring harness when I got this car was a painless for a 68. I have since found original 66 wiring harnesses in great shape, but hooking up these odds and ends is challenging. |

1966 GTO trunk light has an internal fluid (quicksilver?) switch and is fully automatic.

So there's nothing else to install? It's all in the light? I haven't fully hooked up all the wiring yet. Still got to put the dash and ignition switch in. I wanted to get the headliner in before putting the restored dash in.
Thanks for the reply. |

Thank you for the pics. I need to find a couple of those clips, but that is the way I routed mine. It is painful installing those metal clips on freshly painted hinges. I used a 5/16 head anchor bolt, I will change that out for one of the wheel well trim screws that is in your pic.
