Default Crankshaft balancing

I have a NEW eagle crank for my 455. My sons just got done doing all the rods, pistons...stuff. So here is the $300 QUESTION.

Eagle states the intended bobwieght for the crank is 2280 g. MY bobweight figures at 2284 g. Is the .1% UNDERBALANCE an issue for a 5500 rpm engine? This is OUTSIDE MY knowledge base.

I will have the crank set up regardless...to see WHAT the crank is at. 2280 is the TARGET from Eagle not the exact number achieved.

You are close enough to run it as is if you trust Eagle's number.

also in my calcs....measurements were done on a LEVEL surface plate with a height gage /indicator per ID ....my big end + small end = +/- .5 gram of total rod weight. so I feel good about my bobwieght. Cprrection 2285 not 2284 but I will leave it to the "shop hand" who des this to determine if ti is within "margin"of error" etc.....it will still be spun up and measured..... just curious what is the "margin of acceptable error" on a simple 5500 rpm motor?..... I do realize 8500 rpm is DIFFERENT...so chime in please.

While Joe at Moldex can get a lot closer, to the exact bob weight, the 3 speed shops I worked for were willing to run it with a 3 gram difference on the Bob Weight.

Their opinion was oil was constantly splashing on the rotating parts and it was never going to be the same as a "dry" Crankshaft Assy in actual use.

cool...I figured it would be a "builders call". Now we just gotta see WHAT the crank actually is.
