1966 GTO Roof Rail Lights
My 66 GTO has the roof rail reading light option. When I took my car apart the lights were not there, but the brackets were. My car had the dome light in it. I bought a really nice one with the complete wiring harness on this forum.
Do the roof rail lights replace the dome light? The roof rail lights plug into the same spot on the wiring harness as the doomed light. There is not a splice or piggy back to plug in both. I got the full wiring harness including the trunk light with these roof lights and there is no place for the dome light. I would hate to splice in the dome light only to find it was one or the other. I attached a picture of both sets. They each have the identical male end that goes into the trunk harness. |

Our '67 has the roof rail lights and no center dome light. The roof rail lights light up the interior pretty good when the door is opened. Better than a center dome light in my opinion.

Thank you for the reply. I was able to find an image of a 67 with the roof rail lights and it too did not have a center dome. I was pretty sure as the wiring harness that came with this is really clean and doesn't have anywhere for the center dome light to go.

Same here. My 66 came with RR lights, no centre light.

Correct it was one or the other but not both.

Jeff- thanks for your pictures, I am replacing my headliner and now I see the correct location for my "opera lights"

Thank you for the pics. I wasn't 100% sure on the middle headliner bar if it should dangle or be tucked in. I'm hanging my headliner myself.

Agree with the above. Luv those lights, so much better than a dome lite, plus it has the cool map lite feature.
