1966 firewall grommet
My 66 GTO project has a strange looking rubber grommet in the firewall, between the master cylinder and bulkhead connector, the grommet is about an 1" in diameter and protrudes out and angles down about 1/2 inch, it looks original to the car. The catalogs show a similar one, that's for accessory wires. What wires would have run thru here? The car has no power options or AC, but does have TP, 4 speed and in dash tach.

There is a rubber hooded grommet on my ‘66 that has the under hood light wire (black) going through it.
I’m sure the single tachometer wire (brown) also passes through this accessory grommet.

Yes, for accessory wires. My 64 4spd has the tach, wiper/pump and back up light wires running through it.

Thanks for the replies and pictures ! I've always wondered about that grommet, and what it was used for.
