New Master Cylinder Sticks Out Above Hood Line
I am currently in the process of restoring a 1970 GTO and upon installation of the new master cylinder, I see that it sticks up above the hood line (it would also hit the hood tach). I bought the brake booster years ago, but I'm pretty sure it was for a 70 GTO/ A body. What could cause this issue? Do I have the wrong brake booster? It seems it's bracket could be at the wrong angle.

I’m gonna say it’s some sort of “universal booster. Are the mounting brackets bolted on or riveted?
On my wife’s 65 I ended up taking the brackets off the original m/c and put them on the aftermarket m/c. It had studs holding the brackets. If you don’t want to try that, I think you’d want to find the “correct” booster. Good luck! Murf |

I'll be bringing the engine to my builder on Monday. I'll give it a look.

Man we had this same problem on my 72 bird. I ended up having the shop make a bracket for it. I figured it was because I went from a non power brake master to a power brake master but now I’m not sure?

70 gto would have the hold off valve mounted underneath the master cylinder?

Yeah that set up is missing some parts, especially if the car has front Disc brakes... Even updated, it should have at least a Combination valve.
hows the rod to the pedal angle?
