I'm installing a new header seal on my 66 LeMans convertible. As seen in the pictures the seal extends about 1/2" beyond the screw holes. There are about 12 nylon pegs embedded in the rubber seal. The pegs aligned good. Do I re drill a couple of holes and move the over to align with the screw holes or exactly what should I do?

What brand was that seal?
I used "Metro" brand 8 years ago, and it fit very nicely...
If you do drill new holes, I'd worry that the too-wide seal will extend too far outboard on each side...and the front to back seals won't match up well with the stretched out header seal...

How would it work to screw the ends down first then do the pegs?

Upon closer inspection (daytime) I noticed that there were little slits where they installed the pins. All I need to is align the pins with the holes and then install the "T" shaped pins in the molding.

Today I removed all of the nylon pins from the front seal. I attached the top seal with two of the screws on the ends and then closely inspected the position of the top seal with the predrilled holes and inserted a scratch awl to mark the spot where the pin had to be inserted. After I did that I inserted the pins from end to end. Virtually non of the pins original were in the correct spot.
