Default Ram Air cable grommet

Is there a grommet for the ram air cable where it come thru the firewall. Most cars I see don't have one but I would think there was one. If there is one, who's making/selling it?

There should be one, and I believe it was white.

Don't know who is making/selling it.

A restorer I know showed me one on a roller he got in with a bunch of cars he bought. He was showing it as evidence that it was probably a ram air car. Data plate and VIN were missing.
While I only looked at it briefly, it looked to me to be very similar to one of the white nylon nuts used on the inner fender wells where it attaches to the fender wheel opening. Also similar to the snap in license plate nuts.

My 34K mile baltimore built car looks as though a 3/8-1/2 drill bit was used and just wallered around. The white plastic grommets you guys are talking about required a square 3/8 hole.

i just pulled the original cable out of the firewall of my 69 judge. its just a very small delicate little black plastic grommet. i will try to post a picture of it before i leave for out of town tomorrow. i will also check my other 69 judge with the original cable to see if it has the grommet too.

By the way, the white grommet I was shown was on a '70 model.

it is a black - plastic grommet and half the time they are missing. I do not know of anyone that reproduces it - sounds like a good project.

I have one at home - I am on it give me a few weeks - it will be done.

Greg most of the parts i make are better than NOS and i never state a part to be NOS that is not - I use nos in the 55 letter title so it comes up in guys search. I also use 68 69 70 71 72 GTO Judge Trans AM Pontiac and other words that people search under. But if you put 68 & trans am together and 72 & Judge together that is your problem - read the description. I even got a problem when guys put 69 GTO and cross ram together - or is it really a camaro hiding under a GTO skin.

john,i dont,or cant, follow your thinking.the crossram on the judge is a FACTORY PONTIAC CROSSRAM.dont know where your camaro crap comes in.and you DO sell your repop crap as nos.you did it to a buddy of mine.its his fault though,i told him it was repoopped before he bought it.NOS does not belong on ANY ad for a repop part,PERIOD!sorry i couldnt get back to you earlier,i have been gone,in your backyard, picking up a 54 vette.

Thanks for the pictures - That's the one - but some cars came with the plastic coated cable and others early 69 had the bare cable and I found all the grommets I had and the center hole is different for the different size cables - I ordered the material to make them today and I will keep you posted.

Greg thanks for not buying any of my parts, as then I do not have to deal with your rude and snide comments. There are plenty of guys that appreciate the help - you are just not one of them. If you got a beef with me, lay it out - so you do not have to post on every thread I help on or watch my every move. I wish I had that kind of time but I am busy making parts to help the hobby.

I hope your weren’t in my back yard - I don't have any Chevy stuff, and I keep all my stuff in a garage.

Further more NOS is a search word in the title of plenty of ebay listings and while plenty of guys like NOS parts vary few are in fact NOS from the original run left over as service parts. It’s more like valued engineered parts. Or oops we ran out of the original NOS so we will have re bid the part and the cheapest bid gets the job but cut out all the detail and sell it through the dealer as a replacement part. It fits and functions as original but is far from NOS. Just because it says GM on the box does not mean it is NOS you have to look at the date. If it has been retooled there are hundreds of parts this way still available at the dealer and they are not NOS. So really Greg you are fighting a description battle that is greater than you and me. So, today NOS does not mean much because the first production run parts are mostly long gone.

NOS – Nasty Old Stuff
NOS – New OLD Shelf warn
NOS – Nitrous Oxide System
NOS – not good enough to use on the line
NOS – scratch and dent for service parts
NOS – manufacture rejects

Most reproductions if done properly – have a better fit & finish, with less tooling distortion and more detail, made with modern practices and engineering – Remember I said MOST not all. I do my very best in making parts for the hobby most are delighted – What have you done for the hobby???
