Default 7040273 Carb

I was looking at a 7040273 Carb this weekend and not sure about a few things on it. The stamping shows 7040273 WC with a date code of 2629. Has anyone heard of this date code? Thanks, Marc.

What's the build date of your car?

This is a Sept. 1969 carb (for 1970)

I don't have that date recorded, but I am in no way the go-to for this information.

Yes my car was built in September. I think I need 2339, but this carb is 10 minutes from me that is why I was asking about the date code. I don’t think the carb is 100% correct. Thanks, Marc.

Not sure on that date, but might be good for you to post pictures of all the numbers

That carb posted would be Sept 19 1969 I think. Possibly a 9B or 9C build?

I have seen cars on here with my build date with 2339 that’s why I say that. I showed a picture of the carb I was looking at to someone and off the top of his head 2629, did not sound familiar. I did not have the actual carb to show him only the pictures I took. Thanks, Marc.

Don’t right down this date, like I said I don’t think this carb is 100%, that’s why I was asking. Thanks, Marc.

I won't.

I have folders of pictures of legit carbs - catagorized by year, application, and OE or SR.

A '0270 0570 showed up in my email alerts today.

I have a few pictures that people post with the same build date as my car and their carb is dated 2339 that is why I was asking around. Thanks, Marc.

233 would be Aug 21 1969.
I don't know how close to the date of build the carbs would be for a Sept build. For sure a carb made after the build date would be incorrect.
(3 to 4 week lead time, 1 week, days?)

I have understood that they were built in batches, so you could have two sequential engines at a vehicle assembly plant being dressed with drastically different carburetor dates - purely because the older batch ran out, and they started using the newer ones.
