Default 1972 conv top switch

When I push the UP/DOWN button on my conv top switch works in reverse
So when I hit the down button the top will go up into the trunk and when I hit
the UP button the top will come out of the trunk
Is it working in reverse and how do I fix it??

As you describe it I think it is working correctly.

I described it wrong-- when you hit the down button the top will come up from the trunk and down onto the windshield
and vice versa when you hit the up button

sounds like the "red and green" ? wires need swapped in the trunk in the plug
we had a repro motor that did the same a few years back...

So I looked in the trunk to switch the wires -- but it is a molded piece and can't change it there
I am now looking at the switch under the dash to see if you can remove the wires in the back and reverse them
and they do not move--not sure if they are soldered or removable
Should I buy a new switch or does anybody know if they removable??
