Default Can over heating cause a bad heater core?

I know a bad heater core can cause over heating but I'm in the other boat. Car never leaked a drop on the floor board, but today I ran the car hot (sitting in driveway forgot to turn on electric fans) instantly shut it off and turned fans on, car temp went right back down but I noticed the pass floorboard was wet and the gauges on the dash were slightly fogged. I put coolant in the car turned fans on and the car instantly cooled down and ran fine for 20 min without getting hot, I didn't notice any more water on the floor board. Do you think the pressure messed my heater core up? Or could it been a one time leak? By the looks of the job, I might as well go vintage air on the car instead of changing the heater core and getting whatever is wrong with the ac to work (dosnt blow hard out of vents, belt is off compressor so idk if that's even any good)

Unless a heater hose let loose. Leaked at the heater core connections, then No. if your heater core leaked inside the car it needs replacing. Its a closed system in the car. Nothing to "one time leak".

Can I check to see if the hoses are busted without removing everything?
