301 power steering mounting
Has anyone ever tried mounting the power steering on the drivers side of the engine and the alt on the pass side?I have the alt mounted but can't seem to find a bracket to work with just the PS.Tom

No need if you have the correct brackets, you just install as designed.

but if you want to put the alt on the pass side then just use the stock brackets to mount the p/s pump as designed... if it will fit with your set up. |

Figured you were trying to balance the accessories out with the alt on the pass side. Very interested in the progress youre making with the short deck RA5 engine!
Throw this out Tom, if you do have to source 301 PS brackets, the '77-79 301 used the common 10 SI alt, & its own style of 301 alt/PS mtg brackets (thankfully, the most common). For '80 models, a larger size 15SI alt was optional, & required its own style of brackets, one being an alum bracket (pivot block). Have picked up numerous 301 Alt/PS brackets mixed up over the years in partscar deals, & often took some sorting to identify what I was looking at.

Alt lines up perfect. The PS is a issue, still working it out.If I can figure out how to make it adjust I can just cut all the Alt stuff off the bracket.Issue is the mounting pattern on a V heads is a little diff and can only use two of the bolts after inlarging the holes.I have mounted both on the drivers side before but with the shorter deck,it gets REAL tight getting a fuel line up,will be REAL bad with the Cross Ram intake.tom
