Default '64 Proportioning valve BESIDE or UNDER MC?

64 GTO front drum to disc. Stock 389 and valve covers.

Have read countless posts and pics but still deciding. I would appreciate opinions, pros/cons and horror stories.

This is what I've heard or read:

BESIDE; easier line connection but inner fender clearance concerns. Looks out of place.

UNDER; cleaner look but valve cover clearance concerns.

The front clip is off, so I can't mock it up.

Pics would be appreciated.

Are you talking about an adjustable prop. valve? If so I plumbed mine in on the frame where the rear brake line normally connects to the distribution block. . It's out of sight and it doesn't need to be adjusted after initial setup so why not hide it.

At least on my '66 GTO, and probably on the '64 too, there are a few holes already punched into the frame on the section just aft of the suspension pick up points on the inboard side which just happen to correspond to the holes in a factory combination valve as used from mid 70's and up. That's also where '73 A-body started mounting them, so you could get the tubing from one of those cars and bolt in.

Also, you don't need to post the same thing in multiple locations... most regular members use the "New Posts" button at the top and will see it no matter where you put it.

Buy all of the stuff for a 67 and put it on the frame where it belongs.

OG67 thanks for the pic. Is that the hydraboost from the 2015 thread. Still running strong?

Searching for '67 brake lines at In Line Tube. Which works best, Early 67 or Late 67?

In Line Tube offers Early or Late 1967 lines. Does it matter? This will be a manual system.

Depending on what exhaust you're running(headers or ram air manifolds) you may want to look at the routing of the brake lines. The factory had different routing of the lines if you had ram air manifolds.

I mounted mine under the ‘75 Firebird master using a 2nd gen F-body bracket tweaked slightly to get a better angle, prop valve from the same car. Adapted everything myself, no aftermarket kit. This particular ‘64 has ‘69 GP disc brakes.

Another ‘64 installation, same bracket and prop valve along with a Willwood adjustable prop valve to allow fine adjustment. Brakes on this one are 14” and 13.4” C6 Z06, master is ‘79 Malibu 15/16” bore.

Thanks. Manual disc, RA manifolds. '64 frame has 4 holes on the frame, not sure of fitment but that will be the planned location.

Buy the lines for a 67 Ram Air car then...I used those lines with the Ram Air mainfolds, worked great.

Very clean install OG67. Can we get some pics of the tie-in at the PS pump, please?

Sure;

Brakes are AMAZING!
Used original PS pump.

The lines and hydroboost unit come from a 82 GM truck. I had to replace the o-ring fittings at the lower end with double flare fittings I did myself, and had to do a little tweaking of the lines for a neater fit. I chose this route because I do not like braided stuff, or it's associated price tag. I chose not to go under the inner fender because I did not want to butcher the car, every mod I've done can be put back to original easily. Looks factory also, much fun telling people that was original! Ha Ha.

Need more info, PM me with telephone number and I'll give you mine.

Two best links I could find for hoses below;
