Default Tubular upper control arms. Inner fender clearance

I am curious if any of you have installed aftermarket tubular A arms on a '64-'67 A body that you did not have to trim the inner fender for clearance on? I know some are wider than others. Looking into doing this to dial in more positive caster.

I didn’t trim the inner fender but did tweak the back corner of the opening inward to gain clearance for both the Hotchkis uppers I used to run and my current SPC adjustable upper control arms.

So more than likely you’ll need to make some minor adjustments to the inner fender to accommodate aftermarket upper control arms.

Thanks BMan. I was wondering what brand would fit the best, with the least amount of "tweaking". How do you like those A arms?

The design of the SPC uppers makes them among the slimmest on the market, so they tend to fit well. For reference I didn’t have to trim or tweak anything on my bird with them.

I can’t speak to b-man’s experience with his SPC arms but I have nothing but high praise for mine.

The ability to get wild with the alignment without having massive stacks of shims and the inevitable header clearance is a nice touch. I also opted for the screw in ball joints which allows for better wheel clearance.

Although a lot of people that run these don’t race their cars, peruse an auto-x paddock sometime and you’ll see a lot of the cars out there run SPC. There’s a reason for that.

I had to trim mine a bit to get The
SPC arms to fit. Maybe an inch from the inner fender wells where the rubber mud flap is stapled.
