Default Help needed- Drum brakes-68 Bird

Need a little brake help. 68 Bird, manual drum brakes all around. Last summer I replaced the MC and bleeding the lines I saw a lot of dirty looking fluid coming through. No visible dirt, just dark fluid. Brakes worked fine but I decided to replace the original, stock lines, which I just finished doing- all new lines, fittings and distribution block. I proceeded to fill the MC (it has been bench bled) and planned to bleed the system. However I don’t have any fluid going through the lines when I crack the wheel cylinder. I started with the right rear. I have pumped the pedal (slowly) many times expecting to have my nice clear fluid come out of my nice new lines. I cracked open one of the front cylinders and just a trickle comes out of it but you can see the front reservoir going down slowly. Am I missing something? I thought I would see a definite flow at each cylinder. Thanks for the help

You have so much air in the system you are going to have trouble getting it out that way. The master cylinder doesn't move much fluid. If you can borrow or rent a power bleeder do so. If not try sucking the fluid down the lines and out the bleeders. Take a vacuum pump ( a hand pump, Mite-Vac will work) open one bleeder and suck the air out of the line until fluid appears. Do the same with all the lines.

Sounds like the holes in the wheel cyl bleeder nipples are blocked with rust/debris. Or the mating hole in the wheel cyl.
Remove the nipples & check for blockage[s]. Poke a wire or small drill bit in the wheel cyl hole.

Thanks Goatracer. I guess I was just being a little impatient. I put the Mite-vac on it and after several pumps the fluid came pouring thru. Worked great!
