After years of racing before adding the roll cage, the body on my 65 is a little tweaked and I need to adjust the drives door. Are there any secrets to getting to the hinge bolts without removing the fender?

It depends on how you need to adjust it....there is some up-down in - out adjustment on the hinge to door connection with the phillips head screws going into the door. You may be able to get what you need there.

There used to be door hinges wrenches available, but can't find them now. s shape wrenches to go thru the opening and adjust the front part of hinges.
Some old timers may still have some hanging around. LOL. We are all getting to be old timers, LMAO. Sometimes they offset on one end, usually 1/2 inch
and 9/16 wrenches. I believe the bolts are 1/2 inch.

I need to adjust the door up about 1/4”. Never thought about trying to adjust from the door side. Will check that out. Thinking along those lines, bet it would be easier to remove the door and make hinge adjustments(be kind of a guess as you go).

I did come across that s shaped tool. There’s one on eBay. I might have to buy it but dang they’re pricey.

I just adjusted mine like you need yours... I was able to do it off of the door to hinge like i described. You don't need the door super loose, and used a floor jack at the back end of the door to help - don't get crazy with the jack though.

You can use a Hex bit ratchet to loosen those screws, they are slim so they fit in there easier.
Been there done that. There is quite a bit of adjustment there.

I got a whole set of the S and C shaped wrenches from Harbor Freight. Made door adjustment a snap with the fenders on. ('67 GTO). Check HF out. The sets were less than $20. Decent quality, too, which was a surprise.

Between adjusting the Phillips head screws going into the door and dropping the striker a hair it’s much improved and latches much easier. I can live with it as is but am going to check out China Freight as suggested. Thanks for all the advice fellas.

Well, I was able to adjust it with this wrench I found at the farm store. It’s not very long for leverage, but I replaced the hinges when I painted the car 20 years ago and the bolts came loose fairly easily.
