Default Looking For Header Recommendation

Looking for headers that tuck up tight inside the frame rails. My new road racer project car is going to sit pretty low. What's everybody's experience?
I'm not sure what's on the car I bought but the left side tucks up and the right side hangs down way too much.

600-700 hp. Not sure yet whether D-port or round port.

Eric

Thanks....looking for how low they are below subframe. And if both sides are the same? I'm wondering if some of the RH sides are lower to give more oil filter clearance? I'll be running a remote filter so I don't need filter clearance.

Thanks for your help,
Eric

Best to get a custom set made.
The chassis shop 15 minutes from here builds them on the car. Then have to send them to be powder coated.

Eric, I had a set of the round port Hookers on my 73 T/A, they aren't going to be the ones you probably want on a corner carver. Mine were bashed and worn on a street car in less than 2000 miles. I'd never consider another set of the round port Hookers for a road race car. The D port Hookers aren't as bad for ground clearance, but still probably not the ultimate in what you're looking for.

I'd be looking at maybe someone that has a set of the Tri Ys used on the forum for maximum ground clearance. If you buy a used set (Tribal Tubes), you won't have to take a lottery chance on paying for the headers, and never getting delivery, "winning the lottery".

The other option is custom headers, of course probably the best option, but also the most expensive option.........

I ran 23.5" road race slicks when I autocrossed the 78 and lowered Guldstrand front springs. I'll check and see if passenger side is lower/higher I think pretty close to the same amount down.

I have a set of dougs and they tuck up pretty good but the flange does hang down a little further than you want on a road racer/autocross car. Buying them in bare metal and modifying the flange is an option. I'm not sure if they make a pontiac headers but STAHL made the headers for my 1969 Camaro Trans Am racer and those tuck 'TIGHT!"

Thanks for the info. I looked up Stahl (now with a new owner). No Pontiac headers

The Doug's sound like the best option for now. I don't mind modifying the flanges

Thanks,
Eric

i have a new set of O-port hooker super comps for sale if interested. they arent the tightest fitting compared to dougs or tribal tubes but they do fit very well & flanges can be modified. they are brand new & selling for a lot less than new price.

i have them on a 2nd gen thats lowered ~2" with a PTFB suspension kit & they do OK with street use like curbs & speed bumps etc & hard cornering/driving on twisty roads. as skip fix mentioned, im sure they'd be ok for auto crossing with relatively smooth tracks, especially if he used them on a lowered car with only 23.5" tires.
