Quick Ratio Power Steering Box
Is anyone using a Lares quick ratio box?
I just got this Lares 10972 and swapping out my stock box Just wondering if there is a noticeable difference |

The Joys of Auto Restorations
So I thought my restoration was totally completed except for a few items that are on back order
I fired the car up for the first time and the steering is all wacked and the power brakes blow. Time to regress and go backwards. I find that the steering box is bad. I installed a new quick ratio box as posted previous. WOW what a difference. Steering is now perfect and precise. Moving on to the brakes . I found the new brake booster is bad and I have a new one on order. It sucks when you buy new parts and they are bad out of the box Hopefully I will be driving this car soon with no issues |

Installed the brake booster and the car now stops perfectly
I was referred to a great shop here in South Jersey that actually enjoys working on old cars. I sent the GTO to them and they did a fantastic job with the front end alignment. The specs are dead on Mechanically the car is perfect. Still waiting on back ordered interior items. Hopefully there will still be a few nice weekends left so I can take it out on some short drives so I know its reliable and all the bugs are worked out |

I just found your post.
I'm looking at the Lares 10972 for my '69. Rock Auto seems to have the best price and their shipping on it is cheap. Still like it? Would you do the same thing again?

Bought mine from Rock Auto too
They had the best price and reasonable shipping too I have not really driven my car yet since I installed it Living in NJ the weather wasn’t the best I will begin driving it soon and working out the bugs |

I decided yesterday to go with the Borgeson 800130. More expensive but the reviews were a bit better on it. I bought it from Ames. Their price is a little higher but includes a full coupler with pinch bolt. Plus they don't charge me sales tax for shipping to Texas.

Was wondering about the Borgeson 800130. I understand that it is a quick ratio box and that they install a bigger T-bar for a modern feel. But the application chart shows that it can be installed in both an A-body and an F-body. The last time I got a newer steering box, they said it was for an A-body, but the installation of it resulted in a wide turning radius that makes it difficult just to pull into the driveway.
So I’m curious about what your results are. |

A/C all charged up and now. In operation
47 degrees and dropping Nothing works like R-12 . |

I took the GTO out for a maintenance drive and stopped by my favorite photo op location to shoot some photos.
The car has been running great and I get a lot of looks and compliments at every red light |

Way back when … when I bought this project car it came with a rebuilt transmission. At the time I did take off the pan and inspected. No doubt it was clean and rebuilt
Fast forward to when my car was completed. My car just didn’t have the power and performance it should have. The trans was shifting from 1st to 2nd in 10 ft so basically I didn’t have 1st gear. After dealing with this for a year I finally bit the bullet and replaced the transmission yesterday. I hate trans work! Just waiting on my Amsoil ATF fluid so I can road test |
