Default 69 judge stripe on 70 gto

Anybody know when they roughly stopped offering the 69 judge stripe on the 70' ? My 70 was built 1st week of Jan. and has that option.I thought I read where they only offered it it on the early builds.

For some reason I thought that it was offered through the end of 1970 production?

Hmmm,I thought I had always heard the stripe was available early but droppped and the eyebrow was only available after that.Guess I might be wrong. Is there a certain color stripe combo that goes with the factory mint turqouise? The car is currently cardinal red with white decals.I believe the decals were black with the turqoise paint but dont know the colors in the stripe with MT paint.

Hers a link to the Ultimate GTO site that shows the exterior color options and stripe kits.

I think there was one chart published thats often the source of some incorrect info for 70 models, had a stripe kit listed that was wrong....

This one is in color, a very nice reference chart...Thanks Shawn Mattingly!:

On that site it says the main color is orange in the stripe with the turqoise paint but in this original pic it looks black?

I think the Orange-Pink-Blue is for the eyebrow stripes on the 1970 Judge, the 69 style stripe has only 3 different color options: Yellow Red Blue(Black), White Red Black & White Yellow Olive.

Id like to confirm this somehow so I put the correct color on....I looked on the mattingly site mentioned earlier and looked at what would go on a 69 crystal turqoise judge and the main color was blue in the stripe.Didnt know if they kept the theme going into 70.
You can see this car also came with black caps on the wheels,,,dont know what month they started the red caps.
I think I'm going to sell or part out the dragcar in sig sometime late summer and get the gto painted and striped back to orignal

I have had the impression that in an old GTO book - perhaps Zazarine's - it was suggested that there was a running change from 1969-style stripe to the 1970 style. However, I don't think that's true.

However, we do know that, in 1971, there was a running change from the quasi-Judge 2-color stripe to the sword stripe.

Im bringing this back after 6 years have passed . Finally doing the gto back to mint turquoise this winter. Just checking in one more time on the correct stripe color for the mint turquoise. It was suggested that it was black, red and white. The original pic of my car shows that may be correct but the pic isnt that clear. The callouts I believe are supposed to be black. Some reason it likes to flip my pics upside down,,,lol.

Have yet to come across a late built '70 GTO with original tricolor body stripes, many previous owners have added the reflective tricolor '70 Judge stripes.

Did not catch this first time around.... That running change (between 03B and 03C) was only during '71 production on GT-37's, NOT when body stripes were ordered on a 2 door T-37, LeMans, LeMans Sports, or GTO's All of these models continued to receive the thin 2 color (red/white or red/black) '71 eyebrow stripes

Yes, that’s correct. Not sure why I mentioned it in a GTO discussion.

My car is a 70 GTO ,,,originally mint turquoise and ordered with the 69 judge stripe. Built in Jan of 70 I believe. If you look at factory recommended stripe colors to go with mint turquoise paint,,,they only talk about the 70 judge eyebrow stripe,,not the 69 stripe. It was said here by another person that he believed that a 70 gto that was ordered with the 69 judge stripe only came with one option of stripe colors,,,red, black, white,,,no matter what color the car was painted. If you look at the original pic of my car that the first owner sent me when it was brand new you can see the main color in the middle is probably black. Before I order the stripe kit Im just trying to confirm if people think that the red, black, white stripe is correct on the mint turquoise paint. And if it is true that there was only one color combo of the 69 stripe ,regardless of paint color,,and it was red, black, white thats what Ill order for stripes.

It’s my understanding that any non-Judge ‘70 GTO that got the ‘69 Judge stripe got red/white/Black, regardless of body color.

Have a May 13th, 1970 invoice for a 70 RAIV GTO built at Pontiac MI plant with the stripes. UPC code 422 (aka 69 Judge stripe).
