anyone know if the size of the flex plate flywheel bolts change on the 389-455 throughout the 60s?

So a friend of mine with a bored and stroked Stude needed some help finishing up his car to get it ready for the strip let me take a shot.

Beautiful ride and pretty quick i must say.

Made me think about the 455 I have lying around. is there a modern grind i can find thats similar to the original 068 cam?

Yeah thats for sure. Its a coupe hes had for a long time. 13 years i believe he said. pulled it out of a field. lol. The thing goes though. we took apart some dodge leaf springs and mated it with the stude leaves. basically making a hybrid. its much stiffer, more taught but raised in the rear giving a strake and a vicious oversteer.

Really fun though

Man, its been a while since Ive been able to even get my hands on to my Pontiac. Work started flying me an in out the country. no real time for myself and looks like i may be moving out of NY and heading into Georgia. I was in northern atlanta a few weeks ago hoping to see some muscle but, i didnt see a damn one.

Now its getting colder here and last i touched the Pontiac I was so pissed at all the shoddy work that car had dealt with. My subaru is almost complete. Im close to just stripping this pontiac to the body in the winter and just sell the cammed 389 and TH400 together and just properly connect a 4 spd, get the 455 finished and get that brake kit in.

I've got family in N.GA. Beautiful area with affordable housing, unless you get too close to Atlanta. Ellijay and Blue Ridge are great ares to start with.

Is that a coat of primer on the 3rd image?

If so, specifically which did you use?

its duplicolor engine with ceramic primer. it looks white but in person, its a very pale blue. its going to get re-shot with duplicolor engine enamel with ceramic non-primer Pontiac Blue Metallic.

Thanks for the info... if you think of it, create a new thread with your evaluation of the before and after 1000+ miles results. ...it would be useful for future builds.

Its official folks. I got married, my wife is wonderful and we want kids. do you know what that means? great things really. having the wedding during Covid and moving down to Atlanta Georgia these past few years really allowed me to realign everything I needed to do. the Pontiac is waiting for me again. it picked up speed this past fall and now just waiting for warmer days.

Also, did I mention Georgia is amazing? I hope to find some fellow Pontiac drivers but they are few and far between.

Things in the garage for the Cat.

-455 10.25 compression with the biggest cam I could fit. I forget what it is now.
-Fully rebuilt motor and refreshed
-Fully rebuilt TH400 with street shift kit
-keeping the 2.76 rear for highway and putting in the 3.23's for daily driving
-needing a new gas tank or get the original refurbished.

Going to keep the 389 and probably work it up and keep it as a back up until I find something to put it in to sell.

tires are on and ready. contemplating keeping the gray or going matte black

this was the rear I found in amazing condition. 3.23s

axles were done up as well. full rear is ready to go.

just got Gabriel shocks for the poncho. nothing crazy with this build. I plan on driving it cross country often. road trips to Texas and to NY and everywhere in between while I still can as I see fuel may be going in my lifetime.
