Lost tail lights, lic light and stop lights. 64 Lemans vert.
All at once! everything else works including turn signals. The brown wire on the switch gets hot like it should when the switch is turned on and off. At the ribbon connection under the back seat the purple and pink wires go to the turn signals, the orange is hot all the time but I have nothing to the brown wire. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks! Colt.

'And brake lights'
Brake lights don't work either? But turn signals work on rear?

More often than not electrical problems in a car are due to bad ground connections, that's where I'd look first. You can quickly run a jumper wire to see if that is the issue (or to eliminate it.)

[QUOTE=johnta1;6208513]'And brake lights'
Brake lights don't work either? But turn signals work on rear? Yes, that is correct. Rear running lights, brake lights and license light do not work. All other lighting works as it should. Hi-low headlights, dash, courtesy lights, front and rear turn signals and the gas gauge all function.

Try turn signals and push the brake pedal at same time.
What works?

As Stuart has suggested...grounds are critical and create some goofy symptoms. Check fuses and grounds first

Probably a ground issue, I'll get back on it after work. Thanks for the input. It didn't dawn on me to try the brake lights with the switch on!

Brakes work all the time.
So no brake light with ignition on? Is there 12 volts anywhere on the wires to the running lights? 12 volts at the dash? I'd check the bulbs also for broken filaments.

Brake lights only work with ignition switch on the "on" position. All fuses and bulbs check out. Hot coming from headlight switch going to the rear. I will check further this evening.
Thanks!

Correct. There is a brown wire that is for taillights, goes into ribbon harness by high beam switch, then is another connector at rear seat
backrest area. It splices of into two wires the the rear connector at seat area, so if no taillights work, I would suspect you have a broken wire at one of those connection or in ribbon harness. Try this wiring diagram. http://www.wallaceracing.com/MWire5765-340.jpg

I didn't look t the schematic. After looking at it, I'd agree with Lemans64. Probably has 12 volts at light switch and probably at the connector to trunk area. Could be corroded connector or maybe some mice activity?

Ya went thru this on mine till I tried with key on. What were they thinking when they did that??
So used to having brakes lights all the time, one can get side tracked real easily.

Make sure you're checking brown coming out, along with brown going in that's hot from the fuse box.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, problem solved! Bad connections on the ribbon harness and a cobbled together tail light harness. Pulled the ribbon harness and cleaned the connections and installed a new tail light harness from our host and all is well! Everything works as it should.
Colt.
