That said, The $12,500.00 price is a good starting point for a $9500.00 bare bones stripper. |

I agree. Lots of potential for a black/black post '64. But at 12,500, overpriced. Too far gone to be a survivor/patina ride, and very expensive to restore unless it's labor-of-love. Looking at a 60-80k restoration to make a 40-50k car.

Tough audience. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Original, very straight, #'s matching, 4-speed. Great colors. California rust, not Chicago or Boston rust. It won't take anywhere near $60-80k to make that a very presentable car. Not everyone is looking to do a concourse resto....

Interesting question?
The sheet shows the engine code with the eun (along with the VIN) on it which 'matches' the engine eun pic. The sheet shows the 3 speed tranny which would have been 78X. The eun pic has the 'W' askew compared to the others. (making it a 4 speed)

There was a recent discussion about rubber mat's and how moisture can collect under them and rust out metal;
That looked like a pretty solid car to me that needed a trunk floor, and rear drivers side floor. FPP never gives stuff away, and I don't know if the deal fell through (it doesn't look to be sold at this moment), but after my cursory glance, I am with "GTOnly70" in thinking it was a good deal considering everything you had, and the mostly solid starting point.

From their FB page 10 hrs ago: We sold the yellow 1964 GTO this morning. It is going to a good home here in California. I was told that it is going to be restored back to it's original condition. Thank you to everyone that showed interest. It is always nice to see these cars go to a good home. |

I'm on FB just for fun. I liked/joined a lot of Pontiac related pages but after reading some of the posts I just sit there and shake my head...

Everyone's preference is different when it comes to their collector cars but I really like these discovered type cars that are reasonably intact.
I don't think 12,500 is a lot of money for that car considering it doesn't take much to get it mechanically sorted. The name of the game is to enjoy life, that GTO looks like a fun car as-is or would be great restored (I'd leave it as-is).

Buy it for $9500.00 to $10,000.00, put $4000.00 to $4800.00 into it for floors and mechanical and run it. Not a car worth doing a full resto and worrying about driving it. Get it going and have 15 grand worth of fun.
