Default Insurance "in the day" what was the cost for your insurance?

This thought rolls in my head occasionally. I was in my late teens in the late 60's so I lived through part of the insurance crisis. At the time I didn't have a muscle car and I wasn't directly affected but I knew of many where the insurance was a huge part of their wages. I'm sure that my 66 Lemans convertible 326 HO 4 speed was purchased in response to the high insurance costs.

If you had a muscle car in the late 60's or early 70's and would/could a quote on what they were paying and the approximate year so we could convert it into today's dollar.

I don't recall what it cost me but I tried to insure my '65 GTO as a Tempest and they sent me an additional bill saying it was a GTO. Even back then you couldn't get away with it.

I was 19 with a couple tickets when I bought my first car. It almost was a 68 or69 Falcon with a 302 and manual trans. I don't recall what the monthly cost of insurance was but do remember it was more than my monthly payment would have been.
Ended up buying a six cylinder Comet and drove that for the next 20 years and 420,000 miles.

My first car was a 68 Chevelle SS 396. That was in 1972. Paid $50/mo for ins. The next year I bought my first Corvette, a 69 350/350. Insurance cost me $100/mo. I'd do it all over again, except I would have kept both cars.

My 1965 GTO is actually a LeMans with the GTO option so I insured it as a LeMans and never had a problem. That was from 1969 to 1975

In 1974 I had a 1966 GTO. I was paying just over $ 800 a year for just liability insurance. The bare minimum required, no collision.
Got married in early 1975 and the insurance cost was cut in half. Still married to her. She has been saving money all these years.
