Default Trunk spatter paint

Ok the best spatter paint I’ve used, is the aqua and black aerosol can from Eastwood. A perfect match to factory. But now NO ONE has it, only the grey and white. We bought the Dupli Color version in the aqua and what a disaster!! It’s absolutely HORRIBLE!!! now I have a big mess to try and fix. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Anyone use any other brand? Has anyone used the spray gun version in a quart can? And if so are there special tips for spatter paints? Any help please!

Also please post pictures or a picture sample of the paint itself.

Unfortunately, the paint is at the shop (~100 miles away), but the instructions/specs are at the link below (including gun/tip info).

https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/dat...structions.pdf

"Apply By Either: A Pressure Feed Conventional Spray Gun or a Pressure Feed HVLP Spray Gun. Fluid tip/needle must be a minimum of .080-.090 inch or 2.0 - 2.4 mm. Any smaller size will break up the fleck size"

Description:

TRUNK FLOOR RECONDITIONING SPATTER PAINT. BLACK /AQUA (ONE QUART) - WE NOW HAVE THE CORRECT FORMULA TRUNK PAINT USED BY THE OEM MANUFACTURERS WHEN THE CARS WERE MADE. THE PAINT IS SOLD BY THE QUART. THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO DO SEVERAL TRUNK FLOORS AND SIDES WITH THIS QUART. PAINT MUST BE APPLIED BY A PRIMER GUN OR ONE OF THE CHEAP TAIWAN PAINT GUNS. YOU WILL NOT NEED TO CLEAR COAT LIKE MOST ALL OTHER TRUNK SPLATTER PAINTS ON THE MARKET. LAYS OUT LIKE THE FACTORY CONCOURS QUALITY AND COMES COMPLETE WITH DIRECTIONS. THIS IS A PETROLEUM BASED PRODUCT LIKE NO OTHER ON THE MARKET. AQUA/BLACK COLOR ISSUED ON MOST ALL GM YEARS FROM 1964-1977.

I would try a hvlp gun from Lowes or HD. Last couple I bought were in the $50 range. I use them to spray epoxy and they work great. They have a bigger tip (no idea on size) than my good spray gun.

Mike has a few different guns, so I’ll have him read the suggestions here. We’ve just never sprayed spatter paints from a gun before only the aerosol cans, but now you can’t even find it. Eastwood’s been out of it for 6 months.
