"This 1989 Pontiac Firebird is a running project that was modified for street/drag use by a previous owner with a roll bar, a rear hatch-mounted fuel cell, a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter, torsion suspension, and staggered Weld Racing wheels with Mickey Thompson treaded tires. The car is finished in blue over a black and gray interior and is powered by a 305ci V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission."

Seems odd to have all those modifications, yet the drivetrain is still stock. I guess the builder sold it before it got that far?

My thoughts too, like the drive train was next be a nice start for some one, maybe a good price too.

At least you can drive it to the car show, my neighbor has a pro street 85 Camaro with a 502 crate engine, a 6-71 blower and 2 holley 4 bbls, it is set up so poorly it wont idle below 2500rpm. Now he just trailers it to and from the car shows he attends, and winch's it on and off the trailer to sit by it and spread the word of the fastest Camaro in MI.

It is a strange combination. I hope the PO just didn't get to the drive train.

Some of the comments are painful to read.

I thought the user group on BAT was smarter than that.

Some of the BAT comments nailed it. It is an old school 80's or 90's street build, even if they intended to do a big cube something later. It is not real race, it's the old Pro Street thing. As someone said, they used to sell rear end kits for this.

In it's early days, there was a lot of high quality commentary on BaT. But as the number of auctions has exploded in volume, I think the knowledgeable folks can't keep up, don't feel like saying the same thing over and over again when the seventh G-Series Porsche 911 of the week is being auctioned, etc.

Ive seen this so many times. I knew a guy that built a vintage pickup truck for a guy. It had over 800hp, guy said it wasnt even drivable on the street, but hey, he had 800hp!!

I wonder what the "replacement differential" is. Its all fun and games to poke fun at the 305, but if someone properly added a shortened 9" under that thing that is huge.

Hell, I LIKE doing the engine. Its all the other nonsense that I hate dealing with. If someone made that car ready for a real powerplant and thats the only thing I had to touch..... its tempting.

On a personal level I have always been of the opinion that Camaro clearly won the third gen styling war with the IROC cars. So unless its really cheap, Im most likely out on that one. Though I think you could improve that ones looks a lot by adding GTA style trim.

I 100% agree.

The Iroc Camaro nailed the styling. The TA got close with the GTA cars, and I think if you put the GTA parts on this bird it would look 10x better.
