Formula Steering Wheel Questions
I have a 72 GTO that am slowly restoring - I have always wanted to change out the steering wheel that came in the car with the "Formula style" wheel (one of my favorite looking wheels).
Of course in the later F-bodies they used a similar wheel - will that F-body wheel fit in a GTO/lemans? Or are the a-body formula wheels different ie an F-body wheel won't fit? Just looking for options on where to find one, etc. Thanks and any info would be great Steve M.

All the wheels interchange as they have the same bolt pattern to the hub.
Difference is thickness of grip over the years. Your 1972 had the thickest grip wheel offered. It was the same thickness from 1969 to 1973. Finding a fat wheel is not that easy, but you'll see one on ebay from time to time. Condition dictates price - expect to pay $250 to $550 just for the wheel. |

Great thanks - so I can at least expand my search to the later trans am's etc. Not too worried about exact replica/correct just want a formula wheel that functions in the car

You can use those wheels on most every GM, AMC and some Mopars. Used one on my 1961 Chevy PU truck.
