The only time I remember using it was for a suitcase when I moved to Atlanta as seen in the picture below. Mostly I just used it to close the trunk lid.
![]() It was on the car when I bought it used in 1978 and later saw in a '68 Pontiac accessory catalog where it would have been dealer installed. I've never seen another one. No, lost the girl being young n dumb!

I moved to Atlanta in January of '79. That snow pic is bringing back memories. There was a big snowstorm around that time, within a couple of years that is... Locked down the whole city.
Do you recall where the photo was taken?

There was an NOS trunk rack on eBay last winter. Don’t recall what it pulled.

I bought this 1967 Firebird 400 in 1977 for $300 when I was 18yo. It wasn't running at the time but it did come with an extra set of heads that ended up being 1969 RAIII.
I had a 1968 functional Ram Air hood with tach. I used a Chevy cowl induction air cleaner. It didn't have carpet so I bought a piece of remnant tan shag carpet. It was the 1970's!! It came with the Mr Gasket vertical gate shifter and a Muncie 4-speed. I eventually replaced with a stock shifter and console with clock. It had chrome slotted wheels when I bought it and I eventually put on Cragar SS's and finally Rally II's with Firestone red lines. I never was a fan of Firebirds with Camaro rear spoilers. The "Pontiac" lettering and 400 emblem have to be removed. Around 1978 or 79 I went down to my local Pontiac dealer to see if I could order a 1969 Trans Am rear spoiler. The guy behind the counter said that I could but he had one in the attic that was damaged with a couple chips on the ends. That didn't matter to me because I needed to rework the ends slightly to fit the width of a 1967. He sold it to me for $25. |

Yeah, 96Rock...lol... I had the front plate and the bumper sticker. I moved there the 4th or 5th day of 1979. Right around the same time. We probably crossed paths because my first job was delivering and picking up electric motors for a motor repair company. My territory was Northeast Atlanta and that extended int Chamblee, Doraville, Norcross and all the way into the Carolinas and everything in between.
Great pics by the way!

Memorial is on the east side but I didn't hang out over there much except for work and can't place the shopping center.

I did not look at all 298 pages, so I don't know or remember if I posted this one or not. It is one of me and the 1940 Ford coupe I bought in Hanford, Ca. when I got out of the Navy in 1973. I picked up a hitch hiker just outside of town who was heading to Dothan, Al. I was heading to Albany, Ga. which is about 75 miles east of Dothan. We drove straight through, only stopping for gas, food and restroom breaks. The trip was a few miles short of 2400. The following week, I loaded up my wife and drove to Hagerstown, Md. to see my family. That was over 1600 miles round trip.

I originate from Spartanburg, SC and wanted to move to the "big city" after High School. After moving to Atlanta I got an annual pass for Stone Mountain and cruised there regularly on Sundays. Just wondering, are you the Greg that sold Pontiac parts with Bob at Moultrie?

My dad flew DC-3’s in the arctic in the 50’s so I can relate to that picture a bunch. He was involved in the construction of the early warning radar lines (dew and pinetree). We still have a polar bear rug and a bunch of seal skin boots and gloves from his hunting forays from back then. On his return he bought a new car, a 57 delray
