Hot air choke tube set and base that bolts to manifold for late 70's Pontiac 400's (77, and 78-79) for sure. Sets that aren't rusted to nothing are tough to come by, and usually the press fit seal for the tube that goes from the base to the carb is sort of loose.
Inline Tube repros the 403 and several other Pontiac motors, but not for the later 70's L78 or W72 400's. With how popular Firebirds/Trans Ams are getting, especially with the Pontiac motors, id say its a good potential market. An electric choke never worked as good for me as a properly set up hot air choke, even without the heat riser valve, it's still more consistent performance than an electric choke.

Darksiders need love too!
Patch panels for full size cars, specifically 1963 & 1966.
A lot of nice full sized cars out there with very little support.

I have explored the idea of making repops of the lenses via additive manufacturing (basically a liquid acrylic 3d print) I work in that space and the margin of effort vs financial reward is pretty close. If there were enough interest it wouldn't be to difficult to print RH an LH repops of the side marker lenses as well as the front lower park lamp housings...those are even more difficult to find than the lenses. the park lamp housings can actually be printed with a high degree of strength and have a reflective coating applied cheaply. Trust me, I have a 70 lemans and through the years of it being disassembled and moved around they went missing, took me forever to find NOS parts only to hit a goose a year ago and really tear up the LH side, thankfully my front valance has never been a concern. Honestly...If i ever smashed up the front end beyond repair id would be much cheaper to put all of the repop GTO components on (including GTO fenders) than to ever try sourcing all the 70' parts. |

Trim Rings
It would be nice to see some 15" trim rings that replicate the 14". I like the detail and brushed look of the 14".

I just discovered the rear gas tank strap screw is weird and apparently not reproduced. I'm not sure what models and years used them but definitely more than my 70 LeMans:
There are also lots of references to the 70 LeMans front valance in this thread. I would add the radiator support. I understand there may not be much of a market but it surprised me when I found I could buy a repro for a 70 GTO but not for a LeMans. |

OK,right at 23 years now!Is there a master list of what was requested and what actually got reproduced?Tom

I seriously doubt any of these requests have been seen or considered for quite a number of years now.
With the transfer of the retailing of Performance Years items to AMES I think this thread is pretty much dead now. If I’m wrong and I hope I am perhaps a representative from AMES will reply here and tell us otherwise. |

If anyone was listening they would have reproduced the quite simple idle solenoids by now that go for $250-700 used

I figured it was just for discussion purposes. I don't think anyone would ever pay attention to it. Just flog off some nasty similar Chev parts and claim they fit all, if terribly or at all. Very few sellers know what they sell, they just regurgitate incorrect details from the previous. Ames is no different when it comes to making up details and years for what their parts suit, none are enthusiasts, it's just a job and Walmart wasn't hiring.

These solenoids were made some years ago. I was the contact to the mfg who was a Mopar guy of all things. We got a batch of 100 of them in.. Several were not working properly, so I had to test every one of them. In the end, I had 70 were not working properly, and the mfg did not want to repair/replace them. He said it was a very limited production. So maybe I'll put a bug in the Prez's of Max Performance's ear this week... I still think I have an original one.. Mike

You have to understand that every request they can't say YES to. If they make it, it has to be affordable for the hobbyist AND profitable for them. There were some projects that were duds... Now a days companies have to be careful of what they do. Every request is considered, so please don't think it's being ignored. Mike |
