Default Lash caps

What applications for running lash caps? I have been running them for several years to protect the valve tip. But hearing they are only needed for correcting geometry or for titanium valves with "soft tips". Thinking about leaving them off

They can help with clearance between inside of roller rockers and retainers when large valve springs are used.

By large, are you referring to pressures or just geometry?if so I’m running 240 on the seat, 600 open. Do I still need the caps to protect the tips from pressures?

I’m talking about large diameter springs. Your pressures shouldn’t need either. You might have to recheck pushrod length if you just eliminate the lashcaps

i have had them on my wideport combos, both to correct geometry to use pushrods i have. Could have bought half set of pushrods, but this is more cost effective. I do not think their is a negative aspect to this as long as your retainers are already set up for lash caps. both of mine are over 600psi. current one with TI valves, old one with SS vavlles

I had to run lash caps on my highports. my Crower ss rockers were rubbing edge of spring retainer in inside corner of rockers.

The locks have to accept lash caps. I use them more than not.

Yes, I have the grooved or recess locks. Will check geometry again with caps on since moving to 1.5 versus 1.65 .

Moving up to to higher ratio rockers will act on the geometry as if your push Rods got longer.

If your geometry was good with the 1.5 rockers then using the lash caps with the 1.65 rockers will help to keep that geometry the same.
