cool 70 Judge find
Hi, check out the 1970 Judge convertible found in New Hampshire and posted at Cars in Barns this week. Of course, people have tried to shake it loose but it hasn't happened as of yet.

Pallisade green. What is a ball park price on worth if drive train is intact, and it's a Ram Air III ?

It seems like they aren't worth much nowadays. The last real jvert posted here in the forums, for sale on ebay, was only bid to an amount which was probably less than the total restoration cost. That car, pre-restoration, was basically valued at scratch. In other words, it wouldn't make sense to restore a car which is so far gone. It would have to be a gift, and even then would be a loosing proposition to restore for sale.

It's worth quite a bit less than most people think.

Looks rough and original. I'd drive it just like it is and freak out the folks at the local cruise night. Bet it would get more attention than just about anything else. Wild a$$ed guess on value - 6 figures in 2006 in as-is condition. Around half that in 2010. $100k to restore it. Worth $100k restored (i.e., loss of $50k). Not a great investment, but still an interesting car for someone who does all their own work or plans to hang on to it for a while. Scott

You'd be mad to restore in today's climate unless you ignore your own labor and have access to parts. Were it mine I'd do what it needs to safety it and add whatever little things I want to make it enjoyable and drive it. Gives shabby chic a new level of hip. Come on, admit it, this is the one you'd take to the cottage with the rutted stone gravel driveway with a case of beer in the back, a radio playing The Doors and a cheapie trailer out back hauling your Seadoo. You know what I mean?

This is one of only 162 GTO Judge convertibles built in 1970. Very rare! To narrow it down even further, this is one of about 47 automatics. The car is a one-owner, all original car that unfortunately was put out to pasture back in the late 70's. It's never been messed with and is all original right down to the hoses, belts and plug wires. The owner is not sure what he wants to do with it, but of course it's not for sale!"

Looks alot like the one I had back in 97 - green/green, automatic, numbers matching.

I would be kicking myself that I missed a $100,000 + windfall three/four years ago.
Thats some serious cash for that car and he might have gotten it. "Real" opportunities only knock once. |

Surprised the car would sit so long and nothing appears to be stolen from it. (i.e. spoiler, tach ) No engine pix, but one can only wonder whats there and what isn't.....

Based on the amount of rust, the frame may be pretty crusty.

I'm Betting...
...It's the one featured in the May/June 1996 Pontiac Enthusiast (pg 33). Don Keefe found out about it from a relative and followed it up and made contact with the owner.
The owner said it definately wasn't for sale but Don could have a look at it. It had 58,000 miles and was parked in the mid '70's after the exhaust blew out. Palisade Green with Green interior, auto, hood tach and not much else apparently, although I see a remote mirror too. The mag has a front L.H. shot of it in the garage and you can see the stickers on the lower LHS of the screen, their location and size match the above pics. Don wrote that he PHS'd it and it was a indeed a legit Judge. The original owner said that he was going to get around to working on it. I guess that didn't happen! Hood looks like it still had paint on it in 96. |
