Default Norwalk PY Forums 11th annual Friday Night BBQ is ON!

Norwalk is less than 4 weeks away and PY (now Max Performance) wants to officially announce that we will again be hosting what is now our 11th Annual PY Forums Friday Night BBQ compliments of Max Performance, GTOG8TA.com, Snappin Turtle, Cold Case, Fast Auto and Pypes.

The ONLY change for this year is the location. Our BBQ kicks off BEHIND the Cold Case and Pypes trailers located in the main row of the Mfg Midway. Figure around 6:00 pm. We will be bringing, all the way from Hatfield PA, our now famous BBQ rib sandwiches, our pepper and Onion sweet Sausages, burgers, dogs, a couple of crock pots of bbq pulled pork, condiments, plates, utensils, water, soda and chips. We'll also be releasing a couple of new drinks in - The Violator (formerly RED RUM), M-80 and Pype Bomb.

However, just like most picnics, attendees always surprise us with various contributions. These contributions really bail us out because it adds a great family atmosphere to the bbq. I expect the crowd to be a little lighter this year as literally only Forums members that read this will know about the bbq. I'm pretty convinced that even some of you who read this will miss the changed location and wonder what happened to the bbq this year. If you want to bring a food or drink item please post what you're planning to bring. If you don't, that's ok too. All you need to bring is your appetite and maybe a chair.

Items we always seem to need for the bbq: ice, bottled water, Chips, beer, any side dish and an extra grill would be nice!

I am also again looking for volunteers to take a cooking shift. Emily and Kelly have been grilling machines for years. If anyone else wants to volunteer so they can have a break, we can use some relief pitching. I'll also be able to do a much better job of making and distributing some of the new drinks.

We hope to see everyone there. REMEMBER, THE NEW LOCATION is in the midway around the Pypes, Cold Case or Snappin Turtle tents.

Also please check in with the poll above so we can get a good head count.

Chris, Denise and I are in. She will prepare a big bowl of pasta salad like we brought to the Open House a few weeks ago.

Just a thought... maybe bring back the name tags? It may help to keep out Free Food Freddy and will help us get to know more forum members. Name tags are a nice touch

YES!!! YES YES YES!!! If some one want to set up and excel spreadsheet with first, last and forum names on it, I'd even make the tags on my dime. Or I can print up blanks and then you can right your own screen name and/or real name on them.

Its sad to watch people who have no affiliation with the group come in and stuff their cheeks with food and not contribute anything!!! We contribute every year as well as the group we hang with and most of the time I don't get a thing to eat or left over table scraps people save for me because I'm off racing in the gamblers, but we still contribute! Chris goes above and beyond the call when it comes to hospitality at anything he puts his hands on and is EXTREMELY generous with his BBQ's! I hope everyone who plans on enjoying this event support him by bringing something to contribute regardless how big or minimal it may be. If you can't, people understand, if you haven't before, maybe do this time, If you just won't....well i hope you sleep good at night.

Carole and I will be bringing the usual pile of homemade CC cookies, a pasta salad, and who knows what else.

Name tags would be great. I know I missed some good salads at Hatfield. All gone early. Didn't know we had so many PYer's!? As usual Chris went above and beyond at cook out. Thanks Chris.
Not sure what I can bring but will post when I know.

I've done the name tags several years in the past. I'll track them and Rob can print them. Of course, Ccass needs to approve me doing it

I'm fine with name tags but I dont' want to treat them like 'tickets'. You all need to remember that a lot of people bring stuff early in the day stealth. A lot of people are customers that we invite during the day on Friday. Let's not punish those people because they don't bring something.

Bring stuff because you want to promote a family environment. No strings. If you find yourself looking at plates that are too filled, you need a Pype Bomb! It's all good!

Another thing you don't see is that a lot of these people don't even know they are suppose to contribute but after a few times, I see them figuring it out for themselves and then they feel bad and cross over from the dark side. Your contributions bring in new people and convert people over time.....not everyone but we don't need everyone to 'get it'.

Lastly, this year is in a different place with a different landmark. I think you will see a more representative sample of PY forums members than in the past. But even if you don't.....

Just look at the big picture. All our contributions foster and promote some serious good will for the event and our hobby.

I'm a bit upset and confused. I do not want to be looked at as "FREE FOOD FREDDY"! First off I am a member, second, I did put in the poll that I and a friend would be at Hatfield for the BBQ. When we got to the BBQ on fri. I looked for a member check in sheet. Was told is none. So we started to walk around and check things out. Everyone I spoke with I would introduce myself as a member. Yes I did say to my friend that the BBQ is free to members as we stuffed our cheeks. So with that said, if anyone had a problem with anyone why not just ask who they are.

PS. the sticky buns are really good.

Thanks,
Trans Am Greg

Good seeing you there Greg, too bad it was right before we went out for the cruise!

If you're planning on coming out to Norwalk look for us on the race side.

I haven't been to Norwalk, but I'm thinking about it this year - would just be coming to hang out and see the cars, not race mine. Is the BBQ open to anyone, or just PY Forums members? What time does it start?

I hope I don't jinx it but if all goes well I will be picking up a travel trailer from Paul (389Goathead) tomorrow and will be there with my 17 year old son and one of his car buddies. No car to race though (we'll be on the non-pit side). I will bring some New York pizza (not really a BBQ item) but couldn't think of anything unique otherwise.
