No where in the original post did I see where it could NOT be blown. You could do this very easily with a Procharger or turbo. My 431 makes just a hair under 600 hp with a very mild set of pulleys and if I am not beating on it I can very easily run 87 octane on the street. Runs a little rough when cold but idles at 700 rpm when warm using a Holley carb. EFI would cure the cold running problem for the wife.

Just to give an example, it's been done with BBC 454's. Friend of mine did that about 25 years ago with a 454, using a set of OEM 074 aluminum heads, and a solid flat tappet cam.
Tony Bischoff built that engine. It was 11:1 compression, don't remember the cam specs but it was fairly rowdy. Single carb and he ran it on pump gas. On Tony's dyno it made just a hair over 700hp. He dropped it in a 70 Chevelle Malibu and street drove it everywhere, said it would run on 87 octane if he desired. He did a couple of trips back and forth in it from Cincinnati to Pigeon Forge for the Rod Run. Neat car and the stock appearance on the outside never gave a clue. He raced the car too, always with full exhaust and a DOT tire, but can't remember what it ran. I remember it was a stout piece for a street car during that time frame. |

What would the Road Paver do in your combo?

Sober thought here on any-all proposed combos: What would the max HP be if the rpm is limited to 5250 RPM?
My opinion is 400-500 ping-free HP NA regardless of engine being old or new. |

Road Paver makes up to 640 Hp with 335 cfm heads, 500 ci and right carb/intake.

I made 650 on my pump gas 468 n it ran on 91 octane all day! Even did drag week with it, ran high 9’s at over 3600 lbs in not mine shaft air either thru full exhaust ,410 gears and got good mileage . I don’t see why someone couldn’t do 690 with more head flow, but what’s truly important here the 690 for bragging rights or ET??? Plenty of junkets out there claiming 650-700 hp and don’t show the numbers at the track rarely!!

Hard to say..you may see something like a Road Paver in my combo in a year or two with a bit more compression.

Not much electronics, an old MSD Knock sensor and an A/F gauge. I can use a nitrous delay for the first stage and a button for a second stage. This car has Weld Wheels but I've put on Honeycombs play around on the street. 😎 |

Hey Paul K what gears are you running in your car?
I went from 3:73 to 3:42 with the blower motor and now I have my pump gas 462 in my firebird 625HP-634 lbs. The car pull's hard it should be a 10:70-10:80 ET got to get back to the track to know for sure. Just wondering if a 275 shot on a big shot plate would get me into the high 8 second zone? Just cirius on your thoughts about it. Thanks GT |

This one - Semco Boys - 3 Dyno pulls of 720 hp 400 Pontiac Block 465 ci. Kauffman Highports Nothing to Exotic as said - Won the Engine Masters Challenge in 2015 - Power Density vs BBC Fords etc.

That engine is the model for the 461 I am finishing up right now. Same heads, slightly less ci, same CR, little bigger cam, worked 1050, shaft rockers, duel crank Teflon scrapper, trick pan, Moroso 3 vane, ported back cut rings. I expect close to the same results but a drag strip is going to have to prove it.
My heads do not have a ton of portwork, not sure about SEMA,s engine. |
