Default Gas tank sender rebuild?

I think the sender on my 60 Pontiac is messed up. Can anyone recommend a good source for a possible rebuild?

Thx for any replies.

I'm not sure they are meant to be serviced, though I could be wrong. I've certainly never heard of anyone doing it. Usually. it's a remove/replace type deal.

I don't know about the older ones, but I was able to easily disassemble the sender on my 68, clean the internal resistive ribbon, movable contact, and other small items.

They may look a bit different from year to year, but they all function the same.

The gauge reading is a function of the ohms the sender is measuring. So, I'm not sure if all year Pontiacs have same ohm spec. That is important.

Per their website...

Special Notice, Please Read. As of March 1st, 2022
Due to an excessive amount of backlogged sending units to be rebuilt we are not accepting anymore units as of this time; our current backlog of 16 weeks being the reason for this decision. We are sorry for any inconvience this may cause.

I have had many fuel senders rebuilt over the years.

What gets rebuilt? The electronics in them?

Polish the resistor ribbon and contact. Check with a multimeter for proper resistance while moving the float.

You can buy the sock and as long as the float is still good, its an easy fix.
