Starting to tear stuff off the GTO in preparation for the new parts. First is pre-fitting the Hooker headers and 3" Torque Tech exhaust system. I have both 2 chamber and 3 chamber Flowmaster mufflers. Im gonna take a guess that the 2 chamber are somewhat louder than the 3's. Anyone have experience with both and if so, which ones should I bolt on? Any real world experience is appreciated.

Tomn, Your guess is right on. The three chamber versions are advertised to be somewhat quieter and less likely to resonate as much as the two chamber versions. I have heard both and it is true (their advertisements).

I run the 3" 3 chamber on my '68 Bird. They have a nice tone cruising up to 2500. After that they really open up.

I like them. I had 2 chambers and they gave me headaches.

Tom and Big. Thanks for the input. 3 chamber mufflers it is. I definitely dont need any more headaches than I already have.

What series # are your mufflers? How do the Flowmasters rank in order of quiet? 30-40-50-70?? Seems to me the 30's loudest.

Tom I have 2 chamber Flowmasters on my TA 462 and They are much quieter than I thought they would be under normal driving. I also have 3 in Dyno Max race magnums on my truck and they have a deeper tone while driving but louder under full throttle than the Flowmasters. I don't think you will have a problem with the 2 chambers.
