Here’s video of Mr Pontiac at Norwalk in his 67 white GTO with combination I mention earlier, recap on the combo 461 ci, out box E-Heads just clean up. performer RPM intake, Q’jet and Crower 60919 cam. Scroll to 55 minute into the video, this is his 11.60 pass, with a block of wood under gas paddle to keep it from going faster then 11.60’s. Real nice street cruiser.

He went grocery shopping, on his way home, he decided to see what it’ll do at the track. LOL

Maybe I missed but What are the duration and lift differences between your old HR and the 60919?

Also what do your heads flow? I’m curious what the cam change will do in terms of power? And what the drivability differences will be?

I dont have the card right here before me right now. Its substantial thought. Like the difference between almost 600 HP and maybe 450 if I am lucky

I’d say your likely to be in the 500 to 525 hp range running the RAIV cam. A stock RAIV 400 has been dyno tested at 425 hp even though it was rated at 370 by Pontiac. Seriously, a RAIV making only 4 hp more than a 366 hp RAIII D-port engine?

Your good cylinder heads will get you there even without a monster cam. Giving up 50 to maybe 75 hp at the peak that you wouldn’t been using often anyways is a small price to pay for something easier to drive and more reliable.

David have you considered the Johnson hydraulic roller offered by Butler? My builder is discouraging the use of any flat tappet lifters.

Yes I have but I went this way for a variety of reason not the least of which is cost. Very few companies have any roller cams available right now, I hear excellent things about Crowers quality control, the Crower tech gave me step by step instructions and made me very comfortable, and with the money saved I can purchase other things I need to complete the build.

I feel pretty confident about this being as I am not using a radical cam or an exotic valve train.

Got a little behind with illness but block should be going to machine shop next week. Haven’t totally taken the old one apart. No older than they are can I reuse the head and main studs?

Yes on the head studs, for your power level you should not need the studs for the main.If all the main bolts are stock just use them and save yourself some money.JMO,Tom

I'm afraid that ship sailed 3 or more years ago.

the only savings will be the new block should be aligned honed or at least checked with studs in place because of different clamp loads,

use stock bolts sell studs for savings

use studs work block for them = more $$

I wouldn't like it there. Maybe tucked in up in the corner of the dash or something less conspicuous. IMHO
