Thumbs up Plates

I would like to give a big THUMBS UP to Alex, I bought a set of D ports and Round port plates from him. When they came by way of USPS the box was busted open and all that remained was one center port plate for D port head. I contacted my post office here and sent Alex a e-mail telling him what happened and he replaced everything, I received them in mail and all was there.
Thanks' Alex

Good to hear that. I got a completely open, empty box. Alex has assured me that it's on the way but not here yet.

All the major shipping companies seem to be at war with the package they are getting paid to transport.

My original package was lost by USPS and Alex sent out a replacement to me ASAP. He told me out of 6 shipments that week USPS has lost 3.... go figure! Alex is a standup guy and replaced mine, a business can't expect to do that for every package and still stay in business

Yes this is why, so many packages were lost or arrived ripped open that I wasn’t really making money. And the time spent packaging/ communicating and trying to locate missing shipments took away the little bit of free time I normally have to play with cars. I will have them for pickup at Norwalk! Just not worth the effort trying to ship them all over! Sorry!

Man that sucks to hear. I ship packages via USPS daily and only had one stolen off a porch in over a decade to someone I shipped to. No damaged packages ever. That is too bad.

Did you file insurance claims each time? I think $100 coverage is automatic with USPS.

If anyone on the forums will be in Norwalk to grab me a round port set and will be willing to ship them then on my dime via USPS let me know. Thanks.

I had an intake manifold to get lost for a long time and turned out they were using it for door stop at one of the post offices that it was traveling through, because the box had broken open and the address was missing. Can't remember how I tracked that one down.
Beyond that though, this is the first time I ever received an empty box with one of their stickers on it saying that it was passing through their own system in that condition. It even says "Return to Sender" !

Having a buddy who owns a shipping store, 85% of items damaged he sees or hears of are due to poor and cheaply packaged boxes by customers. So often the wrong box is used for the weight or size of the item... or not securely taped etc.

Sounds like you might try ups if having problem with USPS.

I have had good luck over the years shipping many ways.

Good product , just have to figure how to get it to buyers.

Good luck

Have you considered making the plates out of aluminum?

It would be much lighter. That would not only save on shipping, but also make it less likely to break out of the packaging (less inertia). I've shipped a couple dozen of my timing gear alignment verification tools (photo attached), about 7" long and aluminum, via USPS in padded envelopes. Only weighs about 4oz. So far, have not had any problems at all.

You've got a cool product, I'd be in the market to buy a set if you ever ship again.

Can't someone who has a set get them made in plastic? If so, I'll handle shipping for everyone as there was an obvious sender/shipper problem here

There wasn't a problem, I just decided it wasn't worth my time dealing with it. I value my time very much and put a pretty high price on it. I decided my time wasn't worth what I was making so I stopped shipping them. That's it! If you want the CAD files to go out and get them made of plastic I will gladly SELL them to you and you can ship them all day long!
