Paxton Supercharger?
This look interesting. Don't know if it's been posted here before or not. Looks good and seems reasonably priced. Any thoughts?

Looks like the bracketing system is the same but the inlets change like it's not a buy one size fits all kit intake wise.
This would be the second kit available to buy and yet it's the first I've heard of a Paxton on a Ponti?

They don't make any power per flow, spool up rate, etc. Hood clearance issues.
Looks nice thou. Uses a 6 rib belt. Make sure there are no issues with the tensioner and load without slippage and higher boost if you want to upgrade later. If you looking for a 'basic' show and go. looks interesting. Last edited by PONTIAC DUDE; 09-25-2008 at 09:55 AM. |

1) The unit is one of the old Paxton "Ball Drive" units from the 60s vintage.
2) The "Ball Drive" will slip and gall the balls at over 9 psi of boost. When the balls gall the unit is wasted. 2) The unit has a very low flow rate. Works ok on a Small Block 289 engine on a 65 Mustang. Shelby had to use TWO of them to feed a 427 engine at 7 psi of boost. 3) The unit shown, as was said was from the old Granetelli Brothers days of owning Paxton. here is a very good website for the old units: http://www.vs57.com/ 4) Vortech bought the Paxton Supercharger name from the Granetelli family, sold off the original units to a nostalgia guy, and tooled up a new case that used a GEAR drive like the Vortech Superchargers. 5) The most value for the unit would be if you had an old mustang, threw away the brackets in the kit, installed the fresh unit on the Mustang, and then pretended that the unit was a Shelby installed deal to the guys at the car show.
