It works!!!! Uh... I mean, just as I anticipated, the limited slip conversion for the Pontiac std open differential works as designed. As installed in the Pontiac fullsize, the prototype tested at 118lbf/ft breakaway torque prior to break-in. The car would spin the right rear tire very easily, laying down 50ft of rubber. Its a 2.41. And now, no matter how hard I tried, it will not spin AT ALL! !! I have to heat-treat the plates for the 8.5 and it will be next.

Default READY FOR SALE!!!!

Announcing the availablity of the Engineered Performance Limited Slip Differential for the Pontiac fullsize 8.875" 12-bolt differential. This kit will fit ALL 65-76 8.875" differentials with the 30-spline bearing retainer or c-clip axles. It will also fit the 73-81 8.75" P-axle with the 28-spline c-clip axles as installed in some 73-75 A-G, 73-77 A-wagon, and 77-81 Pontiac/Cadillac/Olds/Buick fullsize. This is a do-it-yourself kit for use in any STOCK OPEN DIFFERENTIAL to convert it to limited slip operation. The kit is easily installed by the DIY'er in the driveway in 2 hours or less.

The prototype has been in for 1000 daily driven miles. It is in a 65 Catalina 389 auto. With the stock open differential, it would spin the right rear tire about 50feet. With the EP-LSD installed, it WILL NOT SPIN THE TIRES NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY!!!! The only time it did was when we wet the pavement and it spun both tires equally.

The unit, as-installed, set up at 118lbs/ft breakaway torque. After the test miles, I disassemled the unit and checked for wear and potenial problems. The clutches were broken-in nicely and had no measureable wear (this material has proven over 100,000 miles in other applications), the plates showed no signs of wear (they have been used in another application for 4 years, so they are also WELL tested), and the breakaway increased to over 120lbs/ft. I didn't want to spec it for fear of breaking the lug nut stud. The unit operated flawlessly with NO CHATTER. It uses regular gear oil and requires NO ADDITIVE.

Allow 5-7 business days for build time from the time you place your order. Please email me at tech@engineered.net for more info or to place your order.

there will NOT be a tool deposit. I have reconsidered the installation. I will be including in the kit two keepers that will be used for installation and you can stick them in the glove box like a wheel lock key in case you ever need to take it apart and put it back together.

The initial offering is at $450 + shipping. Be one of the first to get one! The price will likely go up. But I need some orders to get the production parts made. The initial investment is going to be pricey!
