I'm not sure if this is the best section to post this in, but I will give it a try. My beloved Grandfather passed away recently at the ripe old age of 98. He owned the Pontiac Dealership here in Green Bay, WI from 1954-1974. It was called Brown county Motors. For years it was a dream of mine to own a car from his dealership, but I have all but given up hope on that dream. But I still think it would be fantastic to at least know of any cars out there that might still be around and still enjoyed. If anyone owns such a car or knows someone that does, I would be forever grateful to know about the car and hear any stories. Hope to hear from ya!

I'm assuming James "Jake" Stathas was your grandfather?

Do you have a Pontiac club chapter in Green Bay? Or any old car club for that matter? Good chance you could find cars that have always been locally owned.

If you haven't thought of this, you should contact the local vintage car clubs and ask about any Pontiacs. You might get lucky to find one or more sold by your grandfather.

I found a Pontiac dealer in Green Bay, have you heard of it?

Mackens Pontiac, 139 S Washington St Green Bay

Not sure how many Pontiac dealers Green Bay may have had.

I'd also ask some of the older family friends, they may have bought cars there.
May find someone who knows where some cars may still be around.

Jake was my Grandpa's Brother. My Grandpa's name was George Stathas. My family was always very involved with the Packers. Brown County Motors was sold to Mackens in 1974 and later Mackens sold to Gustman. I have a few items from the dealership but not much. I've heard of rumors of local cars still around but have yet to see one. Thanks for the replies guys.

One of my 1978 Trans am's was originally owned by an employee at Mackens Pontiac. I'm still trying to figure out who she was & would love to see if she is still in town. I believe she was in charge of warranty work, scheduling or claims.

Crazy thing about this car is it was built first week in April 1978, but wasn't invoiced from GM until August. it went MIA for 4 months. I talked to Jim Mattison & others on the forum many years back about this & it was thought it could have been a GM executives car, or used for some other purpose before being finally sold to the dealer. I am betting the Gal who worked at Mackens in the late 70's early 80's might know

This was a few years after Brown County Motors, but still a related car story at the same dealership. I can remember that location well. Used to drive through the Lot & drool over the new cars back when Bay Park square was in its infancy. How that area has changed!

Most of the stuff I have is pre-1954 when Brown County Motors was Dodge-Essex. Not sure why more Pontiac stuff wasn't saved. I need to get to our local library and go over tons of old microfiche.

I own a 1971-1/2 GT-37 that was special ordered and delivered to Brown County Motors in May, 1971. It remained in the Green Bay and Wausau area until 2004. I've owned the car since 2009 and know most of the history of the car.

Digging through some stuff that came with my late father-in-laws lemans. He ordered the car from Brown County Motors. Found an oil change book along with a few other things. Kinda cool.

My dad worked at Brown County Motors and also when it became Mackens Pontiac. He worked there from about 1950 to 1990. He often talked about how he enjoyed working for the Stathas's.
In the last 5 or so years I have seen a couple old Pontiac's with a Brown County Motors name plate on the trunk . So I know there out there.

Used to drive through Mackens when I was in high school. looking at the Trans ams. That area near Pilgrim way has changed so much.

Me too. On occasion in the late 70s and early 80s when I was 16 or 17 I would stop at Mackens to see my dad and would walk through the showroom where they usually had a new Trans Am. I would check it out and dream about owning one someday.

Didn't see anything in the link but I presume you are refering to the '68 Pontiac Lombardi can be seen driving, in vintage film clips from the Ice Bowl.
I can't find the documentary where NFL Films is riding along with him on the way to the stadium, but its pretty fascinating.
